The audacity of hype

The media Obamagasms continued yesterday as the Golden One kicked off the first public apprearance of his world tour in Greek fashion:

Barack Obama strode onto the world stage on Tuesday with trademark audacity, or as his political enemies would have it, a dearth of humility, in the symbolic shadow of Jordan’s Temple of Hercules.

As he tries to convince Americans he will keep them safe, the White House hopeful held his first major press conference abroad as presumptive Democratic nominee near ancient Roman ruins and a shrine to the mighty Greek mythic hero.

Since we’re making mythological comparisons… how about the Roman god, Janus? He’s that deity often depicted on ancient coins as having two faces — one looking to the left and the other to the right. Here’s a pic:

Much more appropriate I think.

The odd thing about this tour is that I think Barry sees it as more than just a series of photo-ops. He actually believes that he is stepping into his divine destiny. And the media are all too happy to perpetuate that image.

A prime example:

The symbolism seemed to convince one local journalist, who yelled “Mr President” to get her voice heard.

No it wasn’t just to “get her voice heard”. She was merely doing what the rest of the MSM is just dying to do — pronounce Obama President. I’ve never seen such a starry eyed flock of idiots. They remind me of a group of giddy children following Barney around as he sings and dances and circles the yard.

Meanwhile there are rumors floating about that Obama actually has an opponent in this election. John McCain stepped off his airplane in New Hampshire Monday night to be greeted by… get this…. ONE reporter. As UnionLeader.com reports:

In Manchester last night, there was just one reporter and one photographer waiting for McCain as his plane — a white, blue and gold Boeing 737-400 emblazoned with his campaign slogan, “Reform, Prosperity, Peace” — touched down on the Wiggins Airways tarmac.

This is the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee folks! In the heat of the election season, nonetheless. One reporter. Absolutely amazing.

McCain had this to say recently about the MSM frenzy over Obama:

“It’s pretty obvious that the media has a bizarre fascination with Barack Obama,” the campaign said in an email unveiling a new video, featuring television reporters praising Obama.

“Some may even say it’s a love affair. The media is in love with Barack Obama. If it wasn’t so serious, it would be funny.”

Were a little mystified ourselves, Johnny…
