Here’s news out of Washington D.C. I had been hoping I wouldn’t have to hear.

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, died after a long bout with cancer. He was 53.

A syndicated columnist, editor, TV anchor, radio show host and musician, Snow worked in nearly every medium in a career that spanned more than 30 years.
“Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow,” President Bush said in a statement. “The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character.”

Snow died at 2 a.m. Saturday at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Snow was great on Fox News and nothing less than brilliant as White House press secretary… one of the best we’ve ever had.  He appeared at ease in his role and seemed to take great relish in toying with reporters. Always in command, he never had that ‘beat up’ look of some of his predecessors. He was witty, quick on his feet and never afraid to call a stupid question a stupid question.

Tony was also a great example for anyone who has ever faced the daunting reality of cancer. He always wore a brave face and kept his sense of humor. And most importantly he didn’t let his misfortune keep him from living his life and doing what he loved… at least for as long as he was physically able.

Here is a clip of Snow in action:

We’ll greatly miss you, Tony. Maybe God can use a press secretary. He certainly gets attacked from all sides down here.
