To put it in plain English…

Yet another example of Barrogance from the presumptive Democratic nominee.  This YouTube clip is from Obama’s town hall meeting in Powder Springs, GA on Tuesday. Addressing the crowd on the issue of proposed English-only laws, he let it be known what we American citizens “need” to do:

Suggesting that more Americans become multilingual is fine. But to rebuke us for not learning a specific language just so that we can interact with certain individuals who have chosen to make this country their legitimate or illegitimate home is asinine.  I’m a big supporter of the great melting pot — all races and cultures have something to bring to the table. But when a given people refuses to melt and instead demands that we make special provisions for their customs and language, I don’t feel a particular obligation to accommodate them.

Incidentally, Barry, not all Mexican immigrants speak Spanish. There is also Mixtec, Zapotec and several other indigenous languages spoken by people in that region. In fact, according to a report in 2006, about 60% of the Mexican workers on farms in the state of Oregon were from indigenous populations. Do we “need to make sure” our children know these languages too, Sen. Obama?

Pretty arrogante if you ask me.
